Sack Attack
Setup
Place a series of cones in a zigzag formation about two and a half yards apart. After the series of zigzags, place another cone five yards further upfield. After the last cone, place a tackle dummy around the corner and five to seven yards inside.
Purpose
Work on a defensive player’s footwork through an obstacle course that eventually leads to a simulated sack of the quarterback.
Drill Description
Players begin in either a two or three point stance depending on the normal way their position lines up. The first portion of the obstacle course is a series of cones that the players must weave through by running and turning as quickly as possible.
After the zigzags, players will need to fly around a corner in order to attack and sack the quarterback. Players complete the drill by tackling the tackle dummy at the end of the obstacle course.
