Push Up & Catch Drill

Setup

The receiver should lay face down on the ground 15 yards in front of the coach/quarterback.

Purpose

Teach the receiver to get up quickly off of the ground and still receiver a pass even if he were to trip or fall during the course of the play.

Drill Description

This drill simulates a portion of an in-game scenario where the wide receiver trips or falls during the course of his route. Players should never give up in the middle of a play and this drill demonstrates to receivers what to do in that scenario.

The wide receiver pushes himself off of the ground as quickly as possible and runs straight towards the coach. The coach will throw a pass to the player who will then need to complete the catch to finish the drill.
